ある女の人が赤ん坊を抱いて市営バスに乗り込んだ。
すると運転手は
「ひでえ不細工な赤ん坊だね。今まで，見たこともねぇや。」と言った。
その婦人はムッとして，料金を料金箱に叩き込んで，後ろに近い通路側の席に座った。
隣りに座っていた男性は彼女が興奮しているのに気が付いて，いったい何があったのかを尋ねた。
「あのバスの運転手が私のこと侮辱したんです。」
と彼女は怒りを露わにして答えた。
その男は彼女に同情して
「なんだって？彼は公務員なんだから，お客さんを侮辱する様なこと口にしちゃあいけねぇよな。」と言った。
「その通りですわ。あっちへ引き返して，一言あの運転手に言ってやるわ。」と彼女が言うと…，
男は「そりゃあ良い考えだ。一つ言ってやんな。

A woman gets on a bus holding a baby.
The bus driver says, “That’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen.”
In a huff, the woman slammed her fare into the fare box and took an aisle seat near the rear of the bus. The man seated next to her sensed that she was agitated and asked her what was wrong. “The bus driver insulted me,” she fumed.
The man sympathized and said “Why, he’s a public servant and shouldn’t say things to insult passengers.”
“You’re right” she said. “I think I’ll go back up there and give him a piece of my mind.”
“That’s a good idea” the man said. “Here, let me hold your monkey.”
